How is magnetic field produced in superconductiong magnets?

I learnt that in superconductors the magnetic field is not present around them,but I came across that there are superconducting magnets made of superconductor coils...I dont unerstand,if they have no magnetic field about them then how can they serev as electromagnets???? Thanks:-)
